SCARLETT JOHANSSON Founder, The Outset @theoutset

“As a brand, we like to say that we're Consciously Clean. This means being mindful and purposeful about what we put on our skin daily. Our skincare philosophy is always to nourish and give back to the skin to preserve it for the future. Our consciously clean FORMULAS Since there is no FDA standard for clean skincare, we hold ourselves accountable. We have eliminated over 2,700 ingredients of concern from our formulas - banning those that are questionably sourced or potentially harmful - to meet the highest clean beauty standards. Sourced from the seeds of the Cassia flower, our botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid delivers immediate and lasting moisture to plump, smooth, and nourish the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a fundamental component of skin, and we wanted to recreate it naturally, plant-based. Hyaluroset™ Complex is a botanically-derived ingredient blend that provides the same moisturizing and plumping benefits to the skin. We wanted to create products that were as effective as they were gentle. At the core of these formulas is our Hyaluroset™ complex, a skin-plumping botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid. It was essential to me to provide clean solutions that work, so we included this plant-based innovation in every product." No animal-derived ingredients or by-products.

Our formulas are vegan, cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified." The Outset is a 1% for Planet company. The Outset is a brand developed with Kate Foster, an entrepreneur, mentor, and former beauty/fashion executive.”

JARED LETO Founder, Twentynine Palms @twentyninepalms

“Since Aesop’s inception, we have maintained a fiercely independent approach to product research and development. Our team of skilled chemical scientists works out of our Head Office in a utilitarian, custom-built laboratory – conceptualising product ideas, researching blends, and creating prototypes. We source ingredients from the most reputable suppliers across the globe, then marry contemporary technology with long-established scientific practices. We launch new products only in response to genuine needs expressed by our clients, and only after extensive research delivers formulations of the highest quality and efficacy. A sincere interest in intelligent and sustainable design extends to every aspect of Aesop’s workings. Just as meticulous research is integral to the formulation of each product, our utilitarian containers are created with utmost care to ensure they function with ease and are pleasing to our eyes. In seeking new locations, our first consideration is to work with what already exists. It is our intention to weave ourselves into the fabric of place and add something of merit rather than impose a discordant presence, and our consistent practice to use a locally relevant design vocabulary.

We’ve established a long-term partnership with the non-profit High Desert Test Sites. HDTS, co-founded in 2002 by artist Andrea Zittel, locates contemporary art in a rural setting, far from inner-city art centers, and demonstrates an ongoing engagement with the local population and landscapes. The organization is based at A-Z West, Zittel’s 80-acre Joshua Tree compound that functions as an ongoing investigation into what it means to exist and participate in our culture today. An endowment provided by Twentynine Palms will fund artist and staff support, with the intention of building an enduring creative partnership for the foundation.”

BRAD PITT Founder, Le Domaine @beau.domaine

"Le Domaine: derived of science and terroir to slow down skin aging. It combines the work of Professor Lévy, a world expert on human aging, and Professor Teissedre's research to identify the most potent antioxidants in grapes. It uses ingredients that have a 100% traceable origin to the Vallée du Rhône and are eco-extracted by natural means directly on the land by the family who has cultivated it for five generations. This process results in a standard of efficacy that is unique in the industry, with placebo-controlled clinical trials for the highest levels of accuracy. Le Domaine Skincare combines cutting-edge scientific discoveries with a thoughtful, responsible approach to formulation. Backed by groundbreaking research into human aging, the entire line is designed to slow the signs of skin aging. A serum, cream, fluid cream, and cleansing emulsion make up the product range; they are all vegan, gender-neutral, suitable for all skin types, and 96%-99% of natural origin. The aim is to imitate nature's organic cycles, where there is zero waste. Every discarded thing becomes nourishment for another. This is circularity for Le Domaine Skincare. Le Domaine Skincare's packaging uses recyclable glass bottles and jars and reusable oak stoppers derived from scraps of the vineyard's wine barrels."
